Sound more like villains, vandals or other malefactors.  Going down that
path locks you into one product line.  And it quickly limits your
ability provide web services.

If you had a serious question and are not just astroturfing, and really
you want high-level and cross platform, then Java and Perl are the way
to go.  There is already a Perl API for Swish-e and perl is also about
as close to write-once, run-everywhere as you are going to get, even
when compared to the main languages like java.
