Why would Swish-e not results for multiple words?

This search --

swish-e -w text=biology

-- returns results.  So does this one --

swish-e -w text=opportunities

The same document comes back in both searches, so it contains both words.
But this --

swish-e -w text=biology opportunities

-- returns no results. Neither does this:

swish-e -w text="biology opportunities"

In fact, NO multi-word search returns any results.  I have to be missing
something, but I can't figure out what.
