That probably rules out possibility that it's a large property. I
didn't look, but IIRC this problem is related to the 64 bit machine.
How large are the index files? How many files are indexed?
Can you make it happen if indexing only a small number of files?
Can you run
swish-e -T index_files
and generate the same error?

I'll try and look later today (I'm -0800) for ways to track it down.
It's a bit hard to debug without a 64bit machine handy.
