Not sure if I'm understanding, but simply, you can search anything you can 
index. If the docs on the other machines can be mounted via network to the linux 
server, then you should be able to index them. Use ReplaceRules just as you have 
done, to indicate a different source location.

if the files on the other machines can't be indexed via the filesystem method as 
described above, then you can either spider them (see the Swish-e docs) or index 
them locally on those other machines and then move the indexes themselves to the 
machine that hosts the swish.cgi script.

other options you might investigate: SWISHED and swishd -- see the swish-e.org 
related projects page.
