In trying to fix the Cygwin issue, I realized that Cygwin ships with
libxml2, zlib and pcre libraries pre-compiled.

So, instead of specifying them in my configuration, I simply can type:

  ./configure

But, it seems that PCRE support *must* be manually enabled.

I know very little about autoconf and configure, but is there a
particular reason that the default PCRE is "no" and not "maybe"?  (Line
243 of configure.in)
