I'd also like to see what ldd says, too.  I assume that libz is not listed.

~/swish-e > ldd perl/blib/arch/auto/SWISHE/SWISHE.so 
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40095000)
        libxml2.so.2 => /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2 (0x400b2000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4014c000)
        libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0x40254000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)
