Mmm, it is hard to say. Now I am using 2.1-dev20 in production (the 
latest one from sourceforge CVS) and it is quite stable. I have 
indexed upto 600000 files and search on them without problems.

I think you can use it without problems. The main handicap is that 
each change we make to the source code means rebuild the file 
indexes because, among other things, we are trying to get  the best 
performance from swish.
