Basically, yes.  But, depending on how often you are adding new files...

For additions you can create a second index of just the new files.  Every
time you add a new file you can quickly reindex.  Then when searching
specify both index names with the -f parameter.

For deletions you can stat the results to see if the file still exists
before deciding to display the result.
